Get better as a photographer
October 27, 2020
I am not a Halloween fan myself. I don't really enjoy getting into a costume at all. Horror movies are ok but I can't say I find them a must-watch. That said, photographing a few people last year after Fear PDX closed was a challenge.
The makeup artists that work at Fear PDX are some of the more creative people you could meet. They create a bunch of unique characters and when the skills they possess (get it, possessed) are gifted for a photo opportunity how could I say no.
The challenge I had was how to light the subjects outside of my normal methods and how to pose outside of the normal family photos, headshots, personal branding, and fashion photography I am used to photographing.
Lucky for me, the models/actors were primed with ideas of their own, and the experience, while not one I would typically seek out as a photographer, made this an event worth photographing.
Happy Halloween dear reader and a special one to my dream girl Rebecca. It will be 16 years since we have been together a couple of days before Halloween. Yeah, this time of year does not make me want to dress up unless that is taking my wife out.
